How to Use Disposable Medical Face Masks

Disposable medical face masks do not protect from the virus itself, but from the infectious droplets that are released when the infected person sneezes or coughs.

Protective face masks against the flu and ARVI should be worn indoors in closed rooms, where there is a sick person, and each of these masks should be worn no more than two hours, said Igor Nikonorov, senior fellow at the laboratory testing of new means of protection against influenza virus infections, Institute of Medical Sciences.

The face masks must necessarily cover both the mouth and nose and thus should fit tightly to the face, and after being used for two hours it becomes unusable. Disposable medical face masks do not protect from the virus itself, but from the infectious droplets that are released when the infected person sneezes or coughs. The virus is transmitted from person to person through droplets released when a person speaks (these droplets generally travel less than one meter). Therefore, wear a face mask, if you have to be in close contact with a sick person.
